(More customer reviews)Pentax K-x white with 18-55 & 55-300 lens is my first DSLR. Up to several weeks ago, I have only heard of Canon and Nikon for their SLRs and know nothing about Pentax's SLR. When I found a deal about Pentax K-x, I was first attracted by the price. Then after I have done much research, comparing K-x to D3100, T1i, T2i and so on, I decided to buy K-x because of many reasons. At such a low price, K-x has so many functionalities. It has a very high ISO, in fact, the same CMOS as D90, and a very high shutter speed and many interesting functions built in. I really enjoyed the built-in filter since it is really fun. The appearance of K-x white is awesome. White SLR definitely draw people's attention. The commonly recognized cons of K-x include no red focus dots (however, this is not a big deal in my opinion since K-x offers light hint for focusing), slow autofocus speed (I admit K-x is a little bit slow in dark area, but generally, autofocus is very fast), lower resolution for the LCD (not that big deal), autofocus for liveview (I have a camcorder thus will rarely use K-x for videos), and loud shutter sound (I don't think it's loud). Overall, I am very satisfied with K-x. The best entry-level SLR awarded by TIPA in 2010 and I also think it's the best entry-level SLR. One thing that I am not very satisfied with Pentax is that it doesn't have cheap prime lens compared to Canon and Nikon. Canon and Nikon both have 50mm f1.8 at around $150 but the cheapest standard (50mm) prime lens of Pentax is over $300 (50mm f1.4, though comparable to 50mm f1.4 of Canon and Nikon). Pentax actually still offers many lens and price of those lens overall is cheaper than Canon and Nikon. If you have more money, I would suggest buying Pentax K-5, probably the best aps-c SLR currently. Also, I should give some credits to Beach Camera. My first shipping was damaged in transit and my second shipping from Beach Camera was very fast indeed.
